The Mollymook Longboard Charity Classic was held over the weekend of 8-9 August 2009. The swell for the weekend was not enough to see the events home break of Golf Course reef break but was enough for the event to be held on a nice little left hand reef just south of town on Saturday and the middle of Mollymook Beach on Sunday for the finals.
The Open Division was won by Ray Lawrence who also took out the 8ft Division as well. The Juniors was won by Blake Hackett who also had a double by taking out the Old Mal final. Samantha White won the women's event.
Contratulations should be extended to Mike Greentree, Phil and Natalie Schoer and the Maris family along with a crew from the Mollymook Longboard Club ran what is becoming one of the best longboard comps on the east coast.
We are all looking forward to 2010 and will hopefully see Golf Course Reef pumping for the event.

Sam Wrench won the prestigious Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge 2009 at Keramas River Mouth in Bali in quality 5 foot surf. Apart from an important victory in the star-studded field Sam also takes home $US20,000, the richest prize purse on the pro junior circuit. Sam, from Ulladulla, was able to enter the event as an alternate and made good use of the opportunity to go on to win. Unsponsored the prize money should help Sam with the next stage of his surfing career and the win should also help with demonstrating his potentional to sponsors.
Matt King won the U/14 Boys and Russell Bierke won the U/12 Boys at the recent Barton Lynch Blast Off held at Palm Beach in 6-8 foot waves. Both surfers are from Ulladulla and are used to surfing in challenging waves. Congratulations to the boys and I am sure these wins will auger well for their future in surfing.
Connor O'Leary has won the first round of the U/16 Rip Curl Grom Search series held at Jan Juc in Victoria. This automaticaly puts Connor into the Final for the series to be held next Easter which means Connor can relax when he surfs in the next few rounds of the series as the pressure to make the final will be off.
